DIY Bird Mobile for Mungee's Room

I was browsing etsy and saw a cute bird mobile so I decided would try to make one myself and headed to Michael's. I was planning to use the pattern from the fabric spool birds to just cut out scrapbook paper, but then I found precut birds. They sold them in a pack of 12 for $2.99. I bought a couple packs of scrapbook paper, ribbon and some Mod Podge glue. I still have 4 birds left, so I'm going to try and use them on another project.

I also got a large bird that is attached to a pen holder. I think I am going to do something similar to the mobile with it, but I'm not sure what I'll use it to hold since the container portion isn't that big. Maybe I'll put in a cute silk gerbera daisy, drill a hole in the back and use it as a wall hanging.

With regard to using the wreath, that wasn't my first choice. First I found circular metal rings, but then I found two wooden craft rings with precut holes, so I put back the metal rings. I thought I would spray paint the wooden craft rings cream, but then decided the larger one was too big and that I would take it back. It was upon that return trip that I convinced myself a wreath would look best. I used practically a whole can of spray paint on it to get it the color that I wanted.

Overall, it was a fun project and I am anxious to see what else I can make. It really was my first attempt at craftiness in a LONG time :) I've shared pictures of the finished products with some friends and have received several compliments and suggestions that I make these to sell!

I can't wait to see the mobile once the room has been painted and the blinds and curtains are up!

Our 3D/4D Ultrasound

On Friday, May 29th (my birthday), we had an elective 3D/4D ultrasound done.

We seem to have an uncooperative child :( Apparently her head is already down and in my pelvic cavity so she didn't give us many shots of her face. She kept turning her head away and putting her hand in front, like "Please, no more pictures".

Luckily we get to go back again next Friday! They didn't even collect any money from me today.

I am 29W3D but measuing 30W4D according to the length of her thighbone. She's already estimated at 3 lbs, 3 oz and 15 inches. The U/S tech estimated my due date to be 8-3-09 with a 7.5 pound baby! She said the baby could be around that weight anywhere between 7-31 to 8-8. After that she said add half a pound for every three days! So if I go all the way to 8-11, I could have an 8 pound baby.

As you can see, I am still saying "she". I swear the "gender shot" looked like boy parts to me, but the tech called it "a little hamburger" and promised that she is a girl. DH hates the "hamburger" reference.

She has hair. I thought she would since the Old Wive's Tale of heartburn dictates they will be born with hair. She "yelled" at us a lot because we were poking her trying to get her to show her face.

29 Weeks

How far along? 29 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 25-30 pounds depending on what I consider starting weight.
Maternity clothes: Pants/shorts starting to get tight!
Stretch marks? Haven't spotted them yet! (Keeping my fingers crossed that they stay away). I have heard stories that some people don't get the stretch marks until AFTER the baby is born.
Sleep: Still waking up a lot throughout the night :(
Best moment this week: 3D/4D ultrasound on Friday (my birthday!)
Movement: Felt the weirdest movement/sensation on my right side practically in my ribcage!
Food cravings: Not really.
Gender: Still a girl, unless 3D/4D ultrasound proves otherwise.
Labor Signs: None.
Belly Button in or out? Flat.
What I miss: In a way I miss having conversations that don't revolve around pregnancy. I feel like I might annoy others and it seems like my pregnancy is the only thing I talk about.
What I am looking forward to: 3D/4D ultrasound Friday.
Weekly Wisdom: Trust your care practitioner.
Milestones: Feeling distinguishable hiccups. Going from midwife visits every 4 weeks to every 2 weeks now.

28 Weeks

How far along? 28 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Not sure. Hopefully not too much since the last time. My stomach capacity isn't what it used to be since all my organs are getting squished upward in this short torso!
Maternity clothes: May have to buy some new ones in bigger sizes.
Stretch marks? They are lurking. I can tell.
Sleep: Not sure what this means anymore.
Best moment this week: Getting closer to the 3D/4D ultrasound.
Movement: Daily kickboxing classes held here.
Food cravings: Whatever I can fit in there that won't give me an awful case of heartburn/acid reflux.
Gender: Still a girl, unless 3D/4D ultrasound proves otherwise.
Labor Signs: I think I have BH contractions every once in a while.
Belly Button in or out? Threatening to pop out soon.
What I miss: (TOO MUCH INFO WARNING): Being able to see my "lady parts" when I look down.
What I am looking forward to: My birthday, which is on the 29th and happens to be during my 29th week. How weird that things worked out that way!
Weekly Wisdom: Keep to-do lists. Otherwise pregnancy amnesia will cause you to forget any and all obligations.
Milestones: This week the baby can blink!

27 Weeks

How far along? 27 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Won't know until my next appt at 29 weeks, 2 days.
Maternity clothes: My cute maternity skirt from the GAP is getting tight!
Stretch marks? Still haven't spotted any, but I know they're hiding out, just waiting to make their move.
Sleep: Not too bad. Found a new position for the body pillow so it seems to be helping.
Best moment this week: Being able to finally tell the difference between hiccups and kicks.
Movement: She is an acrobat.
Food cravings: Sushi, Frosty from Wendy's
Gender: Still a girl, unless 3D/4D ultrasound proves otherwise.
Labor Signs: None
Belly Button in or out? Still stretching. Flattening out.
What I miss: Sleeping through the whole night.
What I am looking forward to: 3D/4D ultrasound at the end of this month!
Weekly Wisdom: Even if you think you've been lucky and avoided constipation, don't be too sure it won't creep up!
Milestones: Officially in the 3rd trimester!

One Year Wedding Anniversary

This post is a bit late (our anniversary was March 30), but I wanted to recap our wonderful wedding anniversary weekend. DH surprised me with a trip to Amelia Island and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel! We pulled up into the circular drive and were promptly greeted by the valet parkers and bellhops. We went to check in and were congratulated numerous times by the front desk clerks and were offered champagne. DH drank both and I helped myself to some cucumber water I found in the lobby.

Next we were led to our room and the bellhop tried to make small talk with us. I mentioned that I am expecting and he said I didn't look like it ... but I didn't look fat either. Once we got to our room, he asked if I was planning to breastfeed. I thought that was kind of personal so I said we would do whatever it took to make sure our baby gets the nutrition she needs. It was pretty funny.

As we were settling into our room, there was a knock at the door and a book, Salt, was delivered to us. (The 5-star restaurant at the hotel is named Salt, and DH had booked the Salt package).

We decide to hang out by the pool for a while before getting cleaned up and heading to the sports bar, Eight, for some pre-dinner cocktails and water for me, of course. After that, we headed down the hall to Salt for our delicious 3-course dinner! I love fine dining!

Dinner at Salt

I forgot to take pictures of our appetizers, but I had the Peeky-Toe Crab Cake and DH had Fois Gras, which I had read I should not eat. Throughout the meal, you also have a variety of breads and salts to sample.

For the main course, DH had fish (crusted sea bass, perhaps) and I had Filet Mignon (love it!) I cannot tell what DH's sides were from the picture here, but mine were root vegetables and some sort of asparagus flan.

As a side, we got the Salt Mac 'n Cheese, which is unlike any macaroni we've ever had. It was more like a farfalle type pasta than noodles. It was really good.

Next, we moved on to dessert. We got a warm chocolate melting cake with strawberries/ice cream and some sort of deconstructed key lime "pie". I did not care for the latter of the two.

Dessert was followed by a capuccino and an assortment of candies. How sweet! (No pun intended). We were also given a small box of Hawaiian salts.

After dinner, we went back to Eight so DH could catch some of the March Madness games. We also played a couple games of pool. There was a popcorn machine in the bar and somehow I managed to eat a couple bowls of popcorn after that entire delicious dinner at Salt.

The next day we headed down to the beach but I thought it was a bit too windy and therefore cold and opted to go back to the pool. When we walked over the deck/sand dunes, we saw several turtles soaking up the sun. We spent several hours by the pool and then left the resort and stopped for lunch at Barbara Jean's Seafood before heading home. I love me some pumpkin bread!

It was a wonderful way to spend our first wedding anniversary!
