Setting Off the Sprinklers

A while back, Mungee set off the sprinkler system at JCPenney's.

Well, sort of.

Before I figured out when Mungee needed to take a nap in the morning, Mondays were our "mall day".  She typically would fall asleep in the stroller after we walked around for a while.  Since we would spend several hours at the mall, I needed to nurse her at some point.  I found a large dressing room at JCPenney and the feeding commenced.

This particular dressing room had a loud chime to alert the salespeople whenever a customer entered or exited.  Just as I felt my milk let down, the chime went off and Mungee quickly detached from my breast to check out the noise.  I looked down and saw what appeared to be a thin white hair on my nipple.  I proceeded to pick it off, then realized that it was actually milk spraying out!  I couldn't help but laugh.  I had been nursing her for at least 6 months at this point and this had never happened before.

As Mungee becomes increasingly curious about the world and is easily distracted when she's nursing, this has happened several more times.  It's usually when I'm trying to watch TV or when her Pa enters the room.

Nursing moms, tell me about your breastfeeding snafus.  We've all had at least one.

It's not really a snafu, but I think it is funny story. I often had to nurse Katie while shopping at Babies R Us. I would find a quiet, out of the way nursery display, sit in the glider and use a nursing cover. Was perfectly comfortable, and no one gave me any trouble.

When Katie was about 8 months old, I was checking out and looked up to see the HUGE sign for the Nursing Moms Room. LOL I felt like an idiot. I used it, but I didn't like it in there. It had this very uncomfortable plastic couch and awful lighting. So from then on I continued using a glider out in the store...

Elizabeth, I have used the Mother's Room at Babies R Us several times. I find it quite unaccommodating. There used to be complimentary wipes and diapers on the changing stations. Now there are not even changing pads and there is a trash can smaller than my cat, that requires you to TOUCH the lid to throw away soiled diapers. No thank you!

Let me go on ... my friend and I went to BRU one day and her toddler was eating raisins and drinking a juice box in the Mother's Room. My friend had to leave in a hurry and wasn't able to clean up her son's mess. Mungee and I left the room and came back more than an hour later and the mess was still there. I think the room is an afterthought. It's sad since BRU has such a monopoly on all things baby.
